My name is Alban Motté, i’m currently a student from ESMA located in Rennes, in France. I specialize in Game Design and particulary in documentation, playtest and conceptualization of game loops and mechanics.
 

Here you can see some of my projects i’ve worked on for the past 3 years in wich i took the role of Game Designer. I find myself having no problems working wih teams up to 10 people (for now since that the maximum i’ve been working with), i’m eager to learn more about game design every time i have a chance in any type of project and i always try to match my work with the creative direction the team is heading to. I’m fluent in French and comfortable in English.

I'm used to working on Excel by making tools for GameDesign and even for my colleagues' domains. I'm most familiar with Unreal 4 and 5 than other engine but Unity is also part of my training. I use Microsoft Teams to organize tasks, documentation and overall managing. I enjoye making schematics for GameDesign purposes like Core Loops and Interaction Loops using a variety of applications.

I enjoy working with other people as a team and i adapt as much as i can. I always try to match the spirit of the team as well as following directions to complete the best project possible.

Crystal Moon is a Puzzle Game in which the player will play a space archeologist in search of the civilization on a frozen moon with the objectif of understanding the reason for its disappearance, both sudden and mysterious.

To prevail over the obstacle which will stand in his way, he will have to use an alien tool, allowing him to interact with his surroundings and use portals to an alternate dimension.

The player experience will be paced between exploration phases of the environment and puzzle phases, getting more and more complex, influenced by an secondary dimension, involving the player with the discovery of the last moment of this civilization and the understanding of the reason behind its disappearance.

Core Loop

An interaction loop that represents the "Testing" and "Mastering" of an ability/mechanism/skill, and which determines the course of the DEV-oriented puzzle creation and PLAYER-oriented learning process.

Rewards are based on the complexity and the difficulty of a puzzle sequence.

Crystal Moon's Core Loop consists in moving from an exploration phase to a puzzle phase through a progression problem. This problem is exposed in one reality, and the other can possess its resolution. The puzzle loop can exist in several different instances, and when the progression is resumed, the player is rewarded with a deeper understanding of Crystal Moon's narrative and the continuation of the game.

My work consisted in several important tasks such as DOCUMENTATION, ESTABLISHING MECHANICS AND TESTING WITH PROGRAMMERS, PREPARING TEST PROTOCOLS FOR PLAYTEST, CREATING SCHEMATICS TOOLS FOR LEVEL DESIGNERS, WORK SEMIOLGY WITH ARTISTS TO MAINTAIN ARTISTIC COHERENCE, ADAPTING GAMEPLAY TO EMBRACE THE GAME'S INTENT, LEVEL BUILDING.

Project in collaboration with “Trans Musicales” a music festival located in France and known worldwide for promoting small musicians.

SUPER REGISSEUR is a mix of mini-game on mobile in wich the player must complete mini-games in order to make the best festival possible. The project was supposed to be a in a state of a Verticale Slice and realized in 1 month.

My work consisted in conceptualizing quick, fun and engaging mini-games, making sure the game was going in the right direction and respecting the will of the partner.
